摘要
以一所工科院校英语专业146名一年级学生为调查对象,采用问卷、词汇量测试等工具,研究了英语专业低年级学生词汇学习观念和策略的总体倾向,以及词汇学习观念和策略对词汇测试成绩的影响程度.结果发现:1)参加调查的学生普遍倾向于"通过上下文和应用来学习词汇"的观点;2)他们广泛运用各种词汇学习策略来帮助学习;3)词汇学习观念与词汇量之间无相关性,而六种词汇学习策略被证明对词汇学习最有效;4)高分组和低分组学生在四种词汇学习策略的使用上存在显著差异.本文根据调查结果进行了简要的分析,并从教与学的角度提出了建议.
This paper reports an empirical study on vocabulary learning beliefs and strategies employed by freshmen English majors of one college of Technology in China. The instruments adopted include a questionnaire, and a vocabulary recall test. Detailed analysis of quantitative data yields the findings as follows: 1)Overall, the freshmen English majors from second - class universities hold the belief that words should be learned through use and context.2)The subjects employ a wide range of strategies to learn EFL vocabulary. 3)Vocabulary beliefs do not reveal any correlation with the scores in the vocabulary recall test.6 of the 23 strategies are significantly correlated with the scores in the vocabulary recall test in a positive way. Some pedagogical implications are put forward at the end of this paper.
