李白于开元十二年秋出蜀,寓居江陵,开元十三年至开元十四年往返商游于夔州江陵之间,其间著有《早发白帝城》、《自巴东舟行经瞿塘峡登巫山最高峰晚还题壁》和《宿巫山下》等作品。

Li Bai, leaving Sichuan province in the autumn of the twelfth year of Kaiyuan （an ancient Chinese name of the governing period of the emperor） , had been living in Jiangling, and in the thirteenth and fourteenth year of Kaiyuan, he had been traveling and doing business between Kuizhou and Jiangling, and many great works such as Starting off Baidi City in the moring, Travelling from Badong to Qutang Gorge by boating and Climbing on the top of Wushan Mountain and writing it out on night, and Lodging at the foot of Wushan Mountain were created.
