The referential properties of bare NO and their syntactic distribution

本文探讨光杆NP的指称性质及其与句法分布的关系。光杆NP的典型指称义是通指,以其非个体性而区别于其他各种指称义,其典型的句法位置是动词之前的主语位置;单指的光杆NP在不受语境影响的情况下在句法分布上有一定规律:动词之前倾向定指,动词之后倾向不定指。在动态句子中,特定语境对光杆NP指称性质的影响大于句法位置的影响,出现了很多违反上述规律的语言现象。

This paper discusses the referential properties of bare noun phrases（bare NP） and their typical grammatical positions in modern Chinese.Generic bare NPs can be distinguished from other types of referentiality in terms of their non-individuality,which typically appear in subject or topic positions.Bare NPs are identifiable when they occur before predicates and unidentifiable when following them.In specific sentences,the referential properties of bare NPs probably don′t agree with the above regularity because of the restriction of contexts.
