On the Clarity and Grandeur of the Ci Poems by SU Shi

苏词主调是介于豪放和婉约之间的清雄风格。既阔大雄壮、也不乏轻柔细巧,更多的是通脱豁达,微笑面对现实,以旷达作结。面对贬谪的人生际遇,面对名利世俗,面对相思别离,词人都能表现出潇洒与旷达。这与其坎坷的人生经历,儒、释、道"三教合一"的思想特点及其所处的时代有密切的关系。

The main style of SU Shi＇s Ci poems is the mixture of unrestrainedness and gracefulness, a style of clarity and grandeur. His Ci poems are characterized by gentleness and delicacy as well as broad and grand vigor in which more generosity exists. Su Shi faces the reality with a light heart and a broad mind, whether it is misfortune of being exiled, secular fame and gain, or lovesickness and separation. His attitude toward life is in close relation to his rough life, the thinking trait of ＂religious integration＂ of Confucian, Buddhism, and Taoism, and the age he lives in as well.
