The technology of synthesis of propylene oxide from propylene chlorohydrin by vacuum saponification was studied. The effects of pressure, steam consumption, temperature of partial condenser and prereactor on saponification result were evaluated experimentally. The research demonstrated that compared with ordinary atmospheric pressure saponification, vacuum saponification has the advantage of higher yield, less steam consumption and less poisonous component formed in waste liquid. Based on experimental data the parameters of the mathematical model were correlated. The simulation results agree with the experimental data satisfactorily.
