Communicative Effects of Cohesion in International Business E-mail Discourse

衔接是重要的语篇建构资源。以国际商务电子邮件为语料,对衔接在语篇建构中的作用进行多层次、多视角的分析讨论后,得出的主要结论是:在商务电子邮件语篇建构中,衔接不仅能够连句成段、缀段成篇,更重要的是,还能够调节语篇的交际效果。这一结论将有助于深化对商务电子邮件语篇及其衔接的认识,有助于提高商务电子邮件的写作、理解和运用能力。

Cohesion is an important discourse - building resource. This paper, by using international business e - mail as corpus, makes a multi-perspective analysis of the role of cohesion in discourse. The main conclusion drawn is： the cohesion in business e - mail discourse, not only connects clauses and parts into a meaningful whole, hut more importantly, adjusts the eommnnicative effects of the discourse. This conclusion will contribute to further understanding business e-mail discourse and its cohesion, and to improving the abilities in e- mail composition, comprehension, and application.
