科举制度作为中华民族的文化教育遗产,对于整个世界文明的贡献是巨大的,被西方一些学者称之为中国影响世界文明进程的第五大发明。中国的科举制度对东亚的日本、韩国(朝鲜)、越南等国家都产生了深远的影响。而于19世纪兴起的英国文官考试制度也起源于中国科举,这一制度成为欧美各国文官考试制度的蓝本。科举考试制度的影响是世界性的,使儒家文化得到了传播,也使博大精深的中华文明流传到世界各地。

Imperial examination is considered as Chinese heritage, and/or the fifth invention, making great contribution to the world civilization, influencing profoundly the eastern Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and reaching Britain in the 19^th century as the local examination system for selecting civil officials. This helps Confucianism spread worldwide.
