Traditionally, electric power industry is a large coal user in China, consuming more than 50 percent of total coal consumption. The paper analyzes coal consumption, trend and efficiency of coal consumption in China＇s electric power industry. It focuses on improving methods for coal utilization efficiency in electric power industry, including power unit capacity optimization, generation resource restructuring, development of wind power, hydropower and nuclear power.
