A Review on the Monitoring and Control of Malaria in Nanhui District of Shanghai in the Past 55 Years

目的了解上海市南汇区1952-2006年55年来疟疾流行概况,总结疟疾防治经验,巩固疟防成果。方法从建国初期始,阐述了不同年代和不同发病时期所采取的相应防制措施,从而有效地降低了疟疾发病率,控制其暴发流行,直至达到基本消灭,嗣后进入监测阶段。结果基本消灭疟疾后继续采取卓有成效的监测措施,使疟疾疫情始终保持稳定,巩固了疟防成果。结论55年来南汇区在疟疾防治工作中取得了显著成绩,近几年来由于流动人口带来的输入性病例仍时有发生,疟疾防治工作仍不可松懈。

Objective To understand the epidemic status of malaria in Nanhui district between 1952 and 2006. To summarize the experience of malaria control and to strengthen the control achievement. Methods This paper summarized the controlling measures applied for the control of malaria epidemic since the founding of People＇s Republic of China. With these controlling measures, the incidence of malaria was reduced, and the outbreaks were effectively controlled. Results Malaria is currently under control, and efficient epidemiological surveillance measures have been applied. Conclusion In the past 55 years, significant achievements in malaria control have been obtained in Nanhui county. Preventive measures for malaria control should be continued, especially on the control of imported eases from the mobile population.
