Wuthering Heights , by Emily Bronte, is one of the great curiosities, as it is one of the greatest masterpieces of literature. However, scholars hold different views on the image of Heathcliff. This paper analyzes his distortion and argues that his living in other＇s home without the care from family, the blow of the betrayed love and his miserable background of being a foundling, together serve as the main factors of his distortion. His life tragedy reveals the viciousness of the society and lashes the harm of spirit from the social sense of hierarchy.
