Learner-centered pedagogy can benefit from the close link of learner-autonomous learning and self-assessment. Proficiency scale-based checklist and portfolio assessment, if used correctly, can outweigh some traditional tests in many aspects, such as authenticity, interactiveness and wash-back, therefore, facilitating learner＇s autonomy. In the process of self-assessment implementation, special attention should be given to the learners＇ psychological factor.
