摘要
大学是人类渴望理性并且长期坚持守护的产物。历史上几乎所有大学都是在恪守自身理性与客观性的基础上,通过设法部分满足各自所属的历史时期的社会需求来获得自己的合法地位。西方大学发展史表明,在现代大学教学、研究与社会服务三大功能形成过程中,理性无时不贯穿于其中。现代大学这三大功能合法地位的获得分别在不同时期以不同途径出现于不同的国家或地域。其中,恪守理性是大学发展遵循的至高原则,这也间接成为高等教育哲学思想演变的"大熔炉"。
University is the outcome of human's longing for rationality and persisting in the guardianship for a long time. In the history, almost all universities obtained their legal status based on scrupulously abiding by their own rationality and objectivity, by trying to partly meet the social demand in their historical period. The development history of western universities shows that rationality always runs through the whole formation course of the three functions of a modern university, namely, the teaching, research and social service. The obtainment of the legal status of the three functions of modern university separately appeared in different periods, in different ways and in different countries and regions, among which to scrupulously abide by rationality is the supreme principle followed by the development of university, which has indirectly become the "melting pot" of higher educational philosophy ideology evolvement.
