The article provides a general survey of Wasserstein' s dramatic works, proposing that from Uncommon Women and Others to An American Daughter Wasserstein' s five major plays deal with baby-boom women' s quest for self in a postfeminist U. S. A, where various discourses about the female self are constantly changing and clashing with each other. What emerges from these plays is a pluralistic feminist thinking of the female self as a dynamic process characterized by historicity, fluidity and complexity.
