摘要 2006年3月26日韩礼德教授在香港城市大学的"韩礼德语言研究智能应用中心"成立大会上,做了题为"研究意义:建立一个适用语言学"的主旨报告。本文就适用语言学与应用语言学和可用语言学的意义差异进行了对比。在此基础上,论述适用语言学的长期目标是为了建立语言的意义发生系统,其工作机制是以社会理据来解释和描写语义发生,当前的工作重点是研究智能应用。此外,还谈及适用语言学与马克思主义语言学的关系。 On March 26th, 2006, M. A. K. Halliday delivered the inaugural lecture entitled ＂Working with Meaning： Towards an Appliable Linguistics＂＂to mark the official launch of the Halliday Center for Intelligence Application of Language Studies hosted by the City University of Hong Kong. This paper starts from making a distinction between appliable linguistics and applied linguistics or applicable linguistics, and attempts to argue for the following points： the long -term goal of appliable linguistics is to construct a semogenetic system of language,its guiding principle is dependent on social accountability to explain and describe semogenesis, and its current research focus is intelligent application. The paper also touches upon the relation between appliable linguistics and Marxist linguistics.
