龙游石窟成因初探

Preliminary investigation on the cause of formation of the Longyou grottoes

龙游石窟自从发现以来就一直被笼罩在迷雾中,特别是对石窟的成因颇有争议.在地理考察的基础上综合分析其形成原因,肯定其有别于石窟寺且与采石密切相关.通过分析石窟的分布特征,进一步指出龙游石窟的红色砂岩是理想的建材资源且沿江分布便于石料运输.最后,结合区域采石文化以及对石料去向的初步调查,提出龙游石窟的形成是历代工匠采石留下的遗迹.

Since Longyou grottoes had been discovered, it was kept in mystery at all times, especially the cause of its formation. Based on the geographical investigation, an analysis was made on the cause of the formation of Longyou grottoes and pointed out that they didn＇t belong to grotto temple but have relation to the quarry. Furthermore, through the analysis of distribution feature it was thought that the red sandstone of Longyou grottoes were perfect building materials and convenient to stone transportation because of distributing along river. Finally, combined the area＇s quarry culture with the investigation of the leave direction of stone, it was regarded that Longyou grottoes were the relic which the craftsmen of the past dynasties left over.
