谶纬是汉代一种独特的文化现象。它是以天人感应为核心,以阴阳五行来解释经学而产生。谶纬盛行是与经学自身的发展分不开的,它与汉代儒生的社会地位有关,又是"学随术变"的必然。在特定的环境中,谶纬被一些人用作王权争夺的工具。王权们不断改造谶纬的功能,使谶纬限制王权的积极功能减弱,加上学者对谶纬的怀疑批判和古文经的突起,导致谶纬逐渐衰落。

The mystical Confucianism is a kind of unique cultural phenomenon in the Western Han and Eastern Hart dynasty. It came from the explanation of Confucianism using the way of Yin-Yang and the five elements. The core of the mystical Confucianism is the interaction between human being and nature. It became prevalence in the Western Han and the Eastern Han dynasty, which was relation to the development of the study of Confucian classics, the inflated desires and the social class of the adherent of Confucius, the way of popular thinking in that period.and the learning changes with the academy. The mystical Confucianism was used as an undisguised tool to fight for royal power by some people in the particular political background. The rulers transformed the mystical Confucianism and made it lose the active particularity function to limitation the royalty gradually. In addition, the suspicion and criticism of scholar and the development of Guwenjing which resulted in the degradation of the mystical Confucianism.
