The "consolidation of the global auto supplier industry" has been a subject of intense interest for at least twenty-years. Obviously, consolidation in and of itself does not lead to an optimal market structure. The restructuring the industry is currently experiencing will likely result in many firms shrinking in size, yet more strategically focused.
