Competition for oil and gas resources in Central Asia and the Caspian Sea by the big powers is turning that region into a strategic hotspot in the struggle for energy within the limits of the world. Countries in Central Asia and those along the Caspian Sea are actively engaged in multi-directional diplomacy in order to maximize their own national interests. None of the big powers will come out first in the energy scrambles in the region, but they can compete as well as cooperate with each other.
