再论英语中的委婉语

On Euphemism

委婉语是一种重要的修辞手法,也是一种社会语言学现象。通过研究委婉语我们能更好的了解西方社会和我们所学习的西方语言。英语委婉语的产生有其特定的社会基础即忌讳、礼仪和西方政治。委婉语的语用特点及表现形式均具有丰富的内涵和文化特征。

Euphemism is not only an important rhetorical figure but also a phenomenon of social linguistic science. By studying it, we can learn better the western society and the western languages. This paper mainly discusses the social functions and the pragmatic characteristics of euphemism.
