According to talcum consumption and its proportion changes in China＇s papermaking industry, this paper analyzes current status of China＇s talcum industry, resource reserves and characteristic, as well as objective and subjective reasons for the decline of talcum in paper market. This paper expounded development prospects of talcum in paper making industry and pointed out that talcum as an important papermaking used mineral powder will still maintain its serious position in market and that total consumption will show the trend of slow growth, while having the trend of declining in proportion in papermaking used mineral powder consumption. Economic and technological characteristic of talcum in future paper market manifest itself in its rare functional trait. Exploiting and deploying talcum, resin control agent and dope related producing and manufacturing technique and specialized equipment and corresponding applied technique is the main future R＆D direction.
