凌濛初在乡试失败之后创作"二拍",借此"聊舒胸中磊块",并用"功名富贵,总有天数"的思想自我安慰。受冯梦龙编撰"三言"的影响,凌濛初在"二拍"中力主劝戒,对晚明社会中存在的各种丑恶现象进行揭露,以此警示世人。

After his failure in the imperial examinations at the provincial level, Ling Meng-chu began his creation of his two most well-known works to release him from the suffering. Influenced by Feng Meng-long, Ling focused his care on persuasion and exposure of the evil in the late Ming dynasty.
