The effects of reaction temperature, pretreatment method and Cr loading on methane aromatization over Mo Cr/HZSM 5 catalyst under non oxidizing condition were investigated. The results indicate that when Cr/Mo molar ratio is 0 07, the CH 4 conversion and aromatics selectivity reach 11 6% and 97 2% respectively. Raising temperature is beneficial to the CH 4 conversion and a 15 8% of CH 4 conversion is obtained at 1023 K. The catalyst pretreated with N 2 is better than that with H 2 and CH 4. The NH 3 TPD MS results show that the Mo Cr/HZSM 5 catalyst has more sites of strong acidity and mid strong acidity than Mo/HZSM 5 catalyst. The results of decomposition of isopropanol show that the surface acidity on Mo Cr/HZSM 5 is increased at high temperature. This might be one of the reasons that the activity for methane aromatization is increased over Mo Cr/HZSM 5 catalyst.
