The commercial success of the YU Dan Phenomenon was originally just another splendid victory of entertainment culture. But in the interpreting and oppugning by media, scholars, and the masses, the issue of attribution of the right to moralize emerged from the scene. In the modern society in which elite culture is lost, YU Dan and the media behind her, subtly using the public's request for psychological balance, have obtained the position of moralizer via interpreting classics. While facing the contradiction between idea of culture and market reality, whether intellectuals keep playing the roll of cultural balancer or not, it is a conundrum lies in between intellectuals and popular culture.
