Sino-Soviet Friendship Association during the Polemical Debates between the Two Countries

中苏友好协会是中苏关系风风雨雨的历史见证者之一。随着中苏两党从内部分歧到公开论战,中苏友好协会的功能与活动也不知不觉地发生着变化,出现了与前一时期不同的特点,具体表现为机构萎缩、人员锐减、地位下降、活动减少与功能嬗变。经过痛苦而复杂的演变,到中苏大论战后期,中苏友协作为宣传苏联的组织已不复存在,作为对苏交流机构也基本上名存实亡。但是,中苏友协并没有彻底销声匿迹。即便是在此后中苏长期对峙时期,它仍然通过极其有限的、象征性的活动显示着自身的存在。

Sino - Soviet Friendship Association witnessed the fluctuation of the relations between the two countries. With the dete- rioration of the Sino - Soviet relations, the Association reduced its staff and restricted its activities; when the two countries entered into polemical debates against each other, the Association no longer propagated the Soviet Union and ceased its cultural exchange with the Soviets. But the Association did not vanish altogether, verifying its existence by its hampered and symbolic activities.
