Analysis of Embedded Clauses in Functional Grammar

以功能语法中"级转移"理论为基础对含有嵌入句的结构进行分析,并通过联系传统语法中的定语从句、宾语从句、同位语从句,可以看出在功能语法中,嵌入句只作为小句中某一成分的修饰成分,含有嵌入句的小句不能算做小句复合体。

This paper focuses the analysis on embedded clauses based on the rank shift theory. In contrast to the attributive clause, object clause and appositive clause in traditional grammar, functional grammar views the embedded clause as the modifier of a constituent of a clause, thus, clauses which contain the embedded clause are not clause complex.
