The Development of Science and Technology in the U.S.A. and Its Social Background

本文以诺贝尔自然科学奖获得者的分布情况为依据，从美国社会的三个方面分析美国科技飞速发展的原因。首先，它由于政治上的民主气氛，得以容纳各国人才，促进本国的科技进步，其次，美国雄厚的经济基础，使其能够给予科研巨额投资；最后，美国作为一个新兴的移民国家。

Abstract The theme is based on the distribution of the winners of the Nobel Prizes, the auther attributes rapid development of science and technology in the United States to three causes as fellows: first, the politically democratic atmosphere in America keeps various excellent talents from other countries to promote the progress in science and technology; second, the powerful basis in American economy makes it possible to invest a great amount of money in scientific research; finally, as a young country composed of emigrants, the United States has its unique cultural tradition which is beneficial to the development of individuals.
