单句翻译教法改革初探

摘要 大学英语《读写教程》中的单句汉译英练习题,其教学功能是通过引导学生复习所学课文的主要语言点,训练初步翻译能力,力求举一反三,进而提高英语综合运用能力。该练习综合性强,要求高,始终是学生学习的难点,也是教师教学的重点,调查显示其教学效果有待提高。其正确讲解方式宜概括为"三步走",即复习、仿译和口述,循序渐进地引导学生复习所学课文主要语言知识,进而提高学生翻译、写作与口语等综合运用能力,使教学效果最大化。 The single-sentence C-E translation exercises, attached to College English Reading and Writing Coursebook, function guiding students to review the key language points, expecting to enhance their integral abilities to use English via a mastery of sentence translation. Nevertheless, a survey found that such translation exercises are often utilized improperly or ineffectively due to teachers'insufficient correction or supervision after assigned as written homework. Its justifiable teaching procedures might be generalized as " Three Steps", namely: a) to review the key language points in the text; h) to translate them by imitating the relavant pattern drills; c) to recite them orally. Students can be eventually guided to reviewe texts, to improve the abilities to translate, write and speak. In short, the sentence translation exercise will function to the maximum.
