A new class of aliphatic polyimide based on dianhydrides from dicyclic 1,2,3,4 cyclopentanetetracarboxylic dianhydride (CPDA) were prepared.Their glass transition temperature ( T g ),gas permeability and solubility were measured,and the relationship between permeability and chain flexibility were discussed.The data of the permeability coefficients of five different polyimide membrones based on CPDA are related to the value of its free volume.The order of the permselectivity coefficients of polyimides is contrary to the order of the value of its glass transition temperature.
