A new parameter Z-factor for evaluating the efficiency of flotation deinking process was introduced. It is expressed by combining the brightness （ISO）gain or ERTC reduction and the fiber loss in the flotation rejects. The validity of Z-factor was well proved by pilot-scale experiments and mill operation.
