The Contradiction beteen Choosing Friends and Choosing Hosts——Comment the Relationship beteen Wei Ao and Ma Yuan

隗嚣是王莽末年东汉初年割据陇右的枭雄。当时,其帐下汇集大批人才,其中的马援才兼文武,颇受隗嚣器重。后来马援东归光武,出计灭嚣。本文旨在探讨他们关系由挚友、主臣到仇敌的发展过程,以期揭示择友和择主的矛盾冲突关系。

Weiao, a right formidable man,had set up a separatist regime by force of arms in the area of Longyou from Last years of New dynasty of Wang Mang to first years of the Eastern Han Dynasty . At that time, he gathered many talented person in the office of commander. Among them Ma Yuan had both military and literary talents and was regarded highly by Wei Ao. Afterwards Ma Yuan returned to Guan Wu emperor from east to west and then brought forward a plan of dying out Wei Ao.
