摘要
本研究以英语专业46名和非英语专业60名二年级大学生为调查对象,主要采用问卷调查等工具,探究英语专业和非英语专业学生在词汇策略使用上的总体倾向,比较他们在词汇策略使用上的异同。结果表明:①两类学生对元认知策略的使用频度均低于认知策略;②英语专业学生在词汇策略使用的种类和频度上显著地高于非英语专业学生;③相比较而言,专业学生较多使用对词汇信息处理较深的策略,非专业学生较多使用费时少、见效快的策略。
This paper reports an empirical study on various types of vocabulary strategies employed by English majors and non-English majors in the Chinese context. The subjects were 46 second-year English majors and 60 non-English majors from Ningbo University, and the instrument adopted was a questionnaire. Detailed analysis of both the qualitative and quantitative data has yielded the following findings : (1) Both English majors and non-English majors tend to adopt the cognitive strategies more frequently than the metacognitive strategies; (2) English majors tend to employ more strategies than non-English majors in terms of both category and frequency; (3) English majors tend to adopt more strategies that may best enhance their vocabulary knowledge than the non-English majors.
