The contradiction between sentiment and sense reflected in short stories of Ming Dynasty and its social causes

明代白话短篇小说凸显了明代社会转型时期人们观念发生重大变化的社会现实,存在着情与理的矛盾与抗衡,主要体现在爱情婚姻、新型的义利观以及人们金钱观念的转变上。儒学价值观、程朱理学、王学左派思潮及市民文学的审美价值取向,商品经济对人们观念的影响是矛盾和抗衡产生的重要社会成因。

The short stories of the Ming Dynasty are important components of the civic literature of that period,which were produced to meet the needs of the townspeople's cultural life.Many short stories in this period show the traditional moral principles and ethics,in the meantime more realistically reflect the late Ming social trend of thought and make the individuality of townspeople public.Although this kind of more humanistic idea is contradictory to the traditional ethics,yet this is the inevitable result of the changes of the late Ming social productive force,the idea of appreciation of beauty and the orientation of value.Therefore,there are unavoidable contradictions and rival between sentiment and sense,which mainly result from the severe social reform of the Ming society and the new social trend of thought and the explanation of townspeople's strata.
