The Disappearance of "Hero":On the Thematic Change in English Literature and American Literature

"英雄"曾经是文学文本的主题,英美文学也不例外。但是现当代英美文学中的传统"英雄"已经消失。本文探讨了"英雄"出现和消失的原因,分析了西方现代人的精神位移和对存在的重新定义,指出传统价值体系的崩陷和对存在的迷惘是其根本原因。

＂Hero＂ was once the theme of literary texts, and English literature and American literature were no exception. However, ＂hero＂ in the traditional sense of the word has disappeared in modem and contemporary English literature and American literature. This paper traces the causes of its emergence and disappearance, analyzes the spiritual displacement of modem Westerners and their reinterpretation of existence and concludes that the collapse of their traditional values and the puzzlement over their existence are the root cause.
