《献给爱米丽的一朵玫瑰花》是美国著名作家威廉.福克纳最负盛名的短篇小说。小说描写了主人公爱米丽悲惨的一生。试从女性主义的角度来分析其悲剧的根源,归纳为三个方面:南方社会以父亲为首的男权社会对女性的歧视、压迫和统治;清教思想下的妇女观和贵族观的束缚使女性不能享有正常的权利;重重压力下爱米丽反抗的不彻底性。内因外因的双重作用下,爱米丽的希望彻底毁灭,最终杀害自己最爱的人,取得女性主体地位。
A Rose for Emily is the most famous short story written by the well- known American writer, William Faulkner. It tells us Emily＇s tragic life. This paper makes an analysis of the causes of her tragedy from a feminist perspective. There are three causes： first, the discrimination, oppress and domination over women by the male- dominated society and paternalism in American South; second, feminine morality of Puritanism and people＇s views on aristocracy, which deprive women of normal rights; third, lack of thoroughness in Emily＇s resistance. Due to these causes, Emily became so desperate that she eventually had to murder her lover in order to secure the female - subject position.
