Rectal carcinoma has a high recurrent rate after the surgery and is difficuh to treat again. Secondary resection or chemotherapy alone is depressed, then radiotherapy displays its importance, ^125Ⅰodine seeds implantation, as a novel brachytherapy and with its unique advantages, has a significant meaning for recurrent rectal carcinoma. It is only 20 years since ^125Ⅰodine brachytherapy was first used in recurrent rectal carcinoma, there are still unsolved problems in its practical application.
