Work of Junkmen Community:Research into the Settlement of New Migrants in Cities

通过对广州市兴丰垃圾场上拾荒者的日常工作描述,认为由于搭荒者所拥有的社会资源的匮乏和其他结构性因素,他们所拥有的生活机会和选择都极其有限。由于职业需要,他们的生活环境简陋,工作环境恶劣,劳动强度较大,他们的工作为国家资源的循环作出了贡献。

By describing daily work of junkmen in Xingfeng garbage field in Guangzhou, the author holds that, due to insufficient social resources that junkmen can have access to and other structural factors, junkmen have extremely limited living opportunities and options. Because of the profession, junkmen have to live simple life and work intensively in poor environment. However, their work has contributed to the recycling of national resources.
