The obverse of the Chagatai khanate coins was inscribed with BUHUA, the Abbreviation of the name of the casting palace, the reverse inscription is KE, a Chinese character, stands for tax. This paper discussed the local tax system and its implementation scope. The conclusion is this kind of coins are supposed to be used as the payment of tax.
