Directness and Indirectness in Intercultural Communisation

本文通过对比中国和美国两个东西方文化代表的对比,探讨了现实生活中跨文化交际里语言使用的直接与间接现象,并指出了其背后的文化根源。同时,对于如何清除在交际过程中由于两种语言风格差异而造成的交流障碍,提出了一些建议。

This paper explores the directness and indirectness of language in intereultural eommunieation by making a comparison between the Chinese and the Amerieans, the typieal representatives of eastern culture and western eulture respectively, and identifies their eultural baekgrounds. Some suggestions on how to remove the barriers eaused by the two different styles of language in the communieating proeess are offered.
