The Chinese economy grew at an intense 11.4% in 2007, after the fourth quarter came in at 11.2%. While no one is yet saying that the economy is overheating, the current numbers are enough to make some people uneasy. Xie Fuzhan, director of the National Bureau of Statistics, said that slower growth in 2008 ＂would be something we would welcome.＂
