Discussions of the Subordinate Criterion of Translation Evaluation with Reference of Two Versions of Three Kingdoms

基于德国功能派翻译理论"目的论"中的重要概念"翻译目的",通过具体实例证明,在"信""达"的基础之上,把"翻译目的"作为辅助的翻译标准,将对文化因素翻译中"归化"和"异化"之争的解决有积极的意义。

The nature of translation decides that the fundamental criteria for translation evaluation can only be ＂faithfulness and expressiveness＂. These two criteria, however, seem to be not so efficient when dealing with cultural elements in translation. In this article, the author introduces the idea of ＂translation purpose＂ from Skopostheory and tries to demonstrate, by some specific examples from Sanguo Yanyi, that taking ＂translation purpose＂ as a subordinate criterion of translation, on the base of ＂faithfulness＂ and ＂expressiveness＂, will has great significance for the argument between ＂domestication＂ and ＂foreignization＂.
