Participant Observations of Everyday Life in an American Community:Fieldnotes of an Exploratory Fieldwork

作为北京大学人类学专业国外民族志项目的一个子项目，笔者选择美国中西部一个小镇进行长期田野作业的预调查。在这个期间，笔者广泛地参与社区日常生活的各个方面，也接触了自愿者组织、学校、教会、博物馆等公民社会组织或机构，形成了一些把这里的社区生活与多种关于“美国”的意识、观念关联起来的想法，以便于今后进一步的调查研究。

In order to undertake an ethnographic study in a community of developed countries, the author chose a town of Midwestern US as his fieldwork site. During his two-week exploratory period, he took part in many aspects of everyday life there, and played a role in NPO＇s such as volunteer associations, schools, churches and a museum. He had some tentative generalizations, understandings and comparisons for further researches of his next period of fieldwork.
