The seats are brand new,the colors sparkling,but the management is in a state of chaos.Leipzig＇s opera house reopened in late November 2007 after a year-long, 9.5m renovation.Wagner＇s Rienzi was on the program,but chief conductor Riccardo Chailly was not on the podium.Henri Maier was in the audience,yet he is no longer Intendant.Furthermore,even the set and direction was borrowed form Paris ,in the form of future Paris Opera director Nicolas Joel,who was roundly booed by the Leipzig audience after the performance.
