On January 2, New Zealand soprano Kiri Te Kanawa held a vocal recital at the National Centre for the Performing Arts＇ Concert Hall. She chose 24 opera arias and lieder. In recent years, I have been accustomed to listen to much more strident performances. When I heard Te Kanawa＇s lyrical voice and presentation, 1 was deeply moved.
