《红楼梦》英译本中文化因素的翻译

Translation Strategies of Cultural Factors between Two English Versions of A Dream of Red Mansions

目前《红楼梦》的全英译本有霍克斯译本和杨献益夫妇译本。在有关文化因素翻译的处理上,霍译本主要采用了归化翻译策略,而杨译本则主要采用了异化策略。本文结合实例分析认为,尽管译者采用了不同的策略,却实现了各自的目的。

Whenever Chinese culture is mentioned, people will think of Honglou Meng or vice versa. Until now, there are two complete English versions： one is entitled A tale of the Stone by David Hawks; and the other is A Dream of Red Mansions by Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang. They adopted different strategies on cultural factors： Hawks prefers to domestication and Yang foreignization. Each of them has its merits and demerits.
