Discussion course, in which more attention is paid to cooperative learning, is an important part of postgraduate education in Carleton University, Canada. It is characterized by new course content, large amounts of information and students＇ initiative in classroom participation. It can not only help the students keep track of the latest development in their fields but also foster their team spirit in research and replace the out-ofdate teaching material. By introducing and analyzing the discussion course in Carleton University, we put forward some suggestions for improving the postgraduate education in China.
