The development of software is the core of software engineering research. With the development of software engineering industry , many process models have been invented according to different kind of software system. The process model also should be different chosen . This paper made a brief introduction of the theory of software engineering, the focus of study is put on mainly on the process models , meanwhile, it compared with the advantage and disadvantage of these process models and discussed the situation of application. The analysis can be used to develop the best process models and to enhance the efficiency and effect in application of software .
