A Cognition-based study on Limitations in Transforming English Active Voice into Passive Voice

基于熊学亮从认知语言学的角度将英语被动句分为三种的基础上,论述了英语主动句转为被动句所受的限制。主要讨论了三个方面的限制:语义的限制,词语的限制和宾语的限制。指出并非所有的英语主动句都可转换为被动句,要注意被动句的使用:依文体的不同而使用不同的句式。

In this paper, based on the theory of Three Types of English Passive Voice put forward by Xiong Xue - liang , from a cognitive linguistic point of view, the limitations in transforming English active voice into passive voice are discussed, mainly involving three aspects such as semantic limitation, lexical limitation and objective limitation. It is emphasized that not all English actives are suitable to be transformed into passives, and the use of passive voice or active voice depends on different literary forms.
