关于合理降低平均住院天数的思考

Thoughts on shortening average hospital stay reasonablely

医院有责任充分利用宝贵的医疗资源一住院病床，而平均住院日是直接反映医院医疗服务效率和资源的效利用、间接反映和衡量医疗质量和管理水平的综合指标。作者收集了本院10年的平均住院日，从1997年的21天降低到2007年的9．95天，而病人的医疗费用并没有明显增加。分析了缩短平均住院天数的原因、可能性方法及亟待解决的问题。提出：第一，提高医院管理水平和推广高新技术有助于缩短平均住院日，并且提高了医院的经济收益。第二，为持续有效降低平均住院日，政府的财政支付系统和医疗保险体系仍需持续改进和调整。

A hospital has the responsibility to make full use of its valuable medical resources-inpatient beds. The average hospital stay is a comprehensive index which directly reflects the efficiency of medical services and resources utilization as well as indirectly reflects the medical quality and management level of a hospital. The authors collect the data from Third Hospital of Peking University and found that the average hospital stay was shortened gradually from 21 days in 1997 to 9. 95 days in 2007 , without significant increase in the medical expenses of inpatients. On the basis of analyzing the reasons, practical measures and problems of shortening average hospital stay, the following conclusions are then proposed： the improvement of hospital management and promotion of new technology may induce a substantial decrease in the average hospital stay and consequently maximize the revenues of hospital; there are still problems on financing system and medical insurance system to be solved by our government to decrease average hospital stay continuously.
