Intertextuality in Newspaper Discourse in English

本文运用功能语言学理论以及Hatim和Mason的互文性理论,从名词化、转述引语和文化知识等三个方面对新闻语篇互文性进行研究,以表明互文性的动态性。本文认为,动态互文性对于揭示看似客观公正的新闻语篇的主观性具有重大意义。

This paper aims to study the phenomenon of intertextuality in the newspaper discourse. In order to fulfill this aim, the paper focuses on the nominalization, reported speech and cultural knowledge which characterize newspaper discourse. Its general objective is to show that intertextuality is not static, but dynamic. In this connection, the authors make use of the theoretical framework of Hatim and Mason which distinguishes active from passive pattern of intertextuality. The conclusion is drawn that dynamic intertextuality is of great significance in revealing the subjectivity of the seemingly fair and objective newspaper discourse.
