The Concepts and Classifcations of Translation Technology

翻译技术正从边缘走向中心,这已是当今信息化背景下翻译发展的一个显著特征。翻译是技术的观点把技术置于更为重要的地位,使其从配角成为主角。基于这一观念,本文探讨翻译技术和翻译实务、翻译研究和翻译教学之间的关系、翻译技术在翻译中的地位以及翻译技术的分类,即计算机辅助翻译工具、机器翻译工具、一般工具和电子资源四大类。

Translation technology is advancing from marginality to centrality——a remarkable characteristic of translation development under current information background. The point of view that translation is also a matter of technology in the time of informationization emphasizes technology into a more important role. Based upon this idea, the thesis discusses the relations between translation technology and translation work, research and teaching, and the position and the classification of translation technology, which can be divided into four types： computerassisted translation tools （ CAT tools ）, machine translation tools （ MT tools ）, general tools and electronic resources.
